le POD . . .

Our POD arrived yesterday! It was really something watching the young man unload it and move it into our driveway. I'm almost sure he had to take a co-ordination test!

So today will be spent bringing boxes up from the basement and loading them into the POD. We're still discussing the best way to go about it . . . Brian thinks his way is best and I think my way is best. Not sure how this is going to work, but as it always does, it will! Let the fun begin!

Estate Sale

Downsizing, simplifying, and letting go are no easy tasks so I called in reinforcements. The lovely Rita from Sales by Rita has graciously accepted the challenge of sorting, organizing, pricing, and selling most of my furniture, household and decorative items that I am ready to let go of. My challenge? Not taking things back out of the piles once they've been sorted! It's easier to think you're ready to let go of something than actually letting it go. I remind myself of the new furniture and the simplicity I'm seeking at this stage in my life. Letting go of collections and things that I no longer love is cathartic . . . at least that's what I keep telling myself.

And so if you're in the neighborhood on May 10th and 11th, stop by and visit our Estate Sale. Maybe you'll find something that you love and will give a good home to!

Say Cheese!

Say Cheese! LOL! We are in Wisconsin after all! Gotta love them cheese curds!

I really just wanted to share a few new pictures of the house in Waterloo. I'm really getting excited and my mind is reeling with paint colors, door, flooring, and fencing choices . . . et cetera, et cetera!

Here's a list of the first changes that are going to happen once we've moved in . . .

Replace front doors, side doors and garage door.
Replace carpeting with wood flooring when brother-in-law comes to visit in July.
Replace out-dated metal banister to basement with gorgeous wood bannister.
Install fencing for fur babies.
Have aforementioned deep, heated, soaking tub installed.
Paint, paint, paint!

And so begins the list of things to do . . . I can't wait to get started!

SOLD!

The moment has finally arrived! The SOLD sign went up on our house here making it that much more real. Yes, we really are moving after spending 12 years in this house. I remember the first time I walked in through the front door and got that 'feeling'. You know the one. The one that tells you you've come home.

This house, our home, has seen us through some pretty amazing years. Who knew that two little Canadians would find their place in the world in Wisconsin. This house has seen some transformation, like the sunroom addition we added several years ago. I live in that sunroom and hubby promises that we'll build another in the new house. Watch for that!

And so it's out with the 'old' old house and into the 'new' old house. I'm looking forward to the change and settling into our new community. And I'm lookiing forward to transforming the 'new' house into our 'new' home.

Bathtub Tales

This is in my near future . . .

After spending years in old houses with pitiful bathtubs and bathrooms too small to accomodate a decent sized tub, our new house with it's big bathroom will accomodate the renovation and installation of a deep (19" inches thank you very much!) soaking tub. Oh yes, and I'll take the jets and additional heater please!

Calgon . . . take me away!

Welcome!

No, we haven't moved yet, but the time is coming soon! Our moving date is scheduled for June 7, 2013 and I'm as excited as a pig in mud. Our new home will offer us everything we've been looking for. Downsizing, simplifying, and open concept living which means tearing down a wall to open up the kitchen and family areas to the front living room. All of this and small town living on the edge of a conservancy! There will be many changes happening to this new 'old' house, so I hope you'll follow along as we settle into our new 'old' home making it our own. Welcome!
